Friends of Cricklewood Library was formed by a group of concerned residents at the first threat of closure 1999. Brent closed the library in October 2011, since when the friends have maintained a popular pop-up library. A bid has now gone in to All Souls College, Oxford to reopen the library for the community and develop it into a self-funding community building, with a library, cafe and workspace.

Little Chalfont Library - BBC Report
This library was set up by the community in 2007, and is used as a model for others. Take a look, it isn't a miracle, and council run libraries are still needed.
